Go, Live Your Dream
Sunday night my friend and I were chilling on the couch and she had on the coolest nightgown ever, so we randomly did a photoshoot in my front yard. The beauty and freedom we can find in #creativity hit me like lightning. We even threw one of my brother's daggers into a few of the pictures. It was amazing!

Anybody remember that quote? (the one in the title?) I looove Disney's Tangled. Each year I watch it on my birthday. Amazing movie. One of my favourite things in the whole world is surprising myself with what I can do when I just decide to do it.
Sometimes the stuff I decide to do is pretty random. I've auditioned for musicals, randomly decided to move east to PE Island, once I even ran for school president; I got up in front of my entire elementary school and performed a wonderfully choreographed lip-sync version of "Bop to the Top" from HSM and won.
My Secret? I just try things.
Richard G. Scott said, “Attempt to be creative, even if the results are modest. … Creativity can engender a spirit of gratitude for life and for what the Lord has woven into your being. … If you choose wisely, it doesn’t have to absorb a lot of time."
True words my friends! Experimenting with creativity is like dancing with the divine. It lights a fire within us and helps to keep us moving forwards in our lives. Our hearts and minds change and we start to see the possibilities in everyday. Essentially it keeps us from getting lost in the thick of thin things.
Google defines creativity as "the use of the imagination or original ideas" and I'm pretty certain that encompasses just about everything. Joseph Chilton Pearce is known for his quote, "To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong." I haven't read any of his books so I can't vouch for his theories, but I do appreciate this particular idea. A friend from my high school once told me, "Fear keeps us up all night, but faith makes one fine pillow." Smart girl. As much as I love to be prepared and know the details, there always comes a point where you just have to step off into the deep end. Not everything we try is going to work out splendidly. I once attempted a tiered three layer cake with cherry filling.... My siblings still refer to it as that "bloody massacre" It kinda-sorta imploded and I thought filling it in with more cherries was an excellent solution. It. was. not. 😂 When it comes to baking, my fortes are trifles and cookies. I love messily tearing apart the cake and eating the cookie dough. My sister bakes and decorates cakes like she was born to do it. Her cakes could be on Pinterest they are that beautiful.
It's all about finding something you love. One of my best friends, Ashley, always told me she wasn't creative. Girl makes macrame and sea glass artwork like a pro. Another friend, Hannah, had a really hard time in art class. Her stuff was neat but she did not enjoy it. Now she cultivates the strange hobby of photographing "The life of shells" Ie. she creates entertaining stories about her life- from the shells perspective. About a month ago Jessica told me- while she was pulling out her knitting- that she wished she was more artistic. You fill jars up with different colours of dirt? Scrapbook? Meditate? Journal? Sing? Kick-box? Throw hatchets? Daydream? I call it creativity.
One of my personal favourite things to do is photography. I love love love photographing women. A few nice looking young men don't hurt any either, but my passion is being able to show everyday girls photographic evidence of how beautiful they really are. We are daughters of God! We have limitless potential. We can go as far as we allow ourselves to go. Yes, it takes time. It takes effort, and it definitely is not for the faint of heart.
Ladies, Amazies, we are here because we are amazing. It's part of who we are becoming and we can do hard things.
Our future selves are cheering us on right now.
They know we will change ourselves and with time the world too.
So you're homework is, or tarea rather (I'm not sure why, but I like the Spanish word better) to either:
1. Do something you've always wanted to do but never done
or
2. Try something you used to love to do but haven't done in forever
It'll be fun trust me!
I want a full report by next weeks blog, Haha! I'll do it too :D We are in this together 100% of the way.
